OSX -

The Apple menu is always located on the far left. You use the Apple menu to access options for your computer.

The File menu contains commands to Open or Close windows, files or folders. The Print command is also in the file menu.

If an application is active, you can choose Save or Quit from the FIle menu or from the Application menu in OSX, as you see below:

The Edit menu contains the Undo command that can undo a mistake if selected immediately after you make the mistake. You will also find the Cut, Copy, Paste and Select All commands.

The View menu has options that vary depending upon the active program.

Other menu bar options will appear that relate to the active program.

Moving Windows

Many times you will have more than one window open on your desktop. How will you find the one you want? You have two options: Moving Windows or Using the Finder (or Dock in OSX). Read below to learn more.

One way to see two windows at the same time is to move the top window to one side of your desktop. To move a window click and hold on the title bar. Then, using your mouse, drag the window to another place on your desktop.

If you would like to make a window smaller, click and hold on the lower right corner of the window and then drag it up and to the left until your window is the size you desire. To make your window larger, click and hold on the lower right corner again, and drag it to the right until it is the desired size. If you can see part of the window you want to view, just click on it, and it will pop to the front of your desktop.

Using the Finder (OS9)

It is also possible to toggle, or move between, two windows without changing their size. You are currently reading these instructions in Internet Explorer. If you look in the upper right corner of your computer desktop you will see something like this: . The is in the Finder. The Finder shows all of the programs that are running. You probably got here through a link from your iGo directions in FirstClass. To get back to your iGo instructions, click on the in the Finder,

and then scroll down to click on . This will open FirstClass again so you can see your instructions. While you are in FirstClass, look up in the Finder. It should look something like this: .

NOTE: The check mark in the Finder list shows which application is active.

In OSX you can see which programs are active on your Dock by looking to see which ones have an arrow under them. See the little black arrow under the E for Internet Explorer:

Sorting

Click once on the header area of the Window to sort by Name, Date Modification, etc.

If you click on the Sort Order icon it will reverse the order of the window, depending on which column header you have highlighted.

Finding Files

OOPS! Can't remember where you saved your file? In the Apple Menu, Sherlock 2 can help.
