How to Scan on a PC

1. Unlock your scanner. Look at the back of the scanner. Move the tab to the left side of the switch. (Anytime you move your scanner, you must lock it.) Be sure you unlock it again before you scan.

2. Double-click on the Scanner icon on your desktop.
3. Double-click on the PhotoStudio icon.
4. Put the image to be scanned (face-down) on the glass bed of the scanner. The image should be in the lower left-hand corner of the scanner and with the top of the image resting on the front edge of the scanner.
5. In the File menu, select Acquire.
6. Click on the Advanced Mode button in the lower right-hand corner of the window. (NOTE: You will only have to click on the Advanced Mode button once.)
7. Set your Color Mode to Grayscale and set the Output Resolution to 75.
8. Click on the Preview button. The scanner will preview your image. (NOTE: This will take a few seconds. Be patient!)
9. Select the area you want to scan by adjusting the dotted lines around your image. Whatever is inside the dotted lines is what you will scan.
10. Click on the Scan button.
11. Once the scanning is complete, close out of the scan window by clicking on the “X” in the top right corner of the window. This will take you to your scanned image.
12. Save your scanned image by going to the File menu and choose Save As. A new window will appear for saving your image
13. Using the scroll bar, set the Quality to 40.
14. Click on the “Save as type” drop down menu and select Jpeg File (*.JPG).
15. Name your file with your LastnameFirstinitial_ AssignmentName (Example: SmithJ_Bikes) and then click Save. Your document will be saved to Student Storage.
